"Here is an update about how I've decided to put my Crohn's into remission and an update about how I'm feeling.
This morning I weighed in on my scale at 88 lbs. That was after I'd had breakfast and I was in my PJ's. When I weigh in at my doctors their scales are usually 3 lbs heavier, but they weigh me with all my clothes and my shoes on. So I'm some where between 88 & 91 lbs is my guess. Lately I've been feeling a bit better, not eating foods that aggravate me has really helped. About half of days I get pretty crampy and just want to sleep the afternoon away, but it's no worse that having migraines or very bad allergies I imagine (though I've never had either of those conditions).
On Sunday I'll be starting a diet that is no grains (i.e. rice, wheat, corn, oats, etc.), no processed foods, no starchy vegetables (i.e. potatoes, yams, etc.), no canned vegetables of any kind, no flour, no sugar, no sweeteners other than honey and saccharin, and no milk products except for homemade yogurt fermented for 24 hours. It will be a big change from my usual boxed & canned food, cheap way of eating. My friend is going to come down and get me started on Sunday and help me with the first shopping trip and first few meals. She is also bringing me a grill so I can grill my meat and some flower pots so I can start a vegetable garden. If the diet seems to be helping after 1 - 2 months, it is a 2 year commitment, but after 2 years it's highly likely my Crohn's will be in remission. If it doesn't seem to be helping after 1 - 2 months then I'll probably switch to Remicade (which I've decided not to do right now). After two years I can start slowly working back in more foods, but it's suggested that I never return to a diet that is high in refined sugars and flours (basically allowing me the occasional guilty pleasure)."
